Last Day of Camp!

Well, the last day of Summer Web Camp is here! It's hard to believe how quickly these past two weeks went by! Today we're going to have the opportunity to finally show off our websites, the sites that we've been working on since Day 1! I know I'm looking forward to what will certainly be a fabulous show!

After the unveilling it will be time to say goodbye to all the campers for another year (after we stuff ourselves with goodies, of course!). There's no doubt that Nancy, Andy, Laurie and Becca will be sad! Learning about website development and accessibility was great fun, and I will certainly not forget all the new things I learned. This was definitely a memorable camp!

Don't forget to keep in touch!

Wednesday: Working with Images

Today we're learning how to use Adobe Photoshop to work with images. Nancy is giving a great presentation with tips and tipettes on how to use this fancy program. She told us about all the different places that we can get digital images (like cameras). She even told us how we can find pictures of something like Costume Festivals! We're going to use what Nancy taught us to make awesome images for our own site!

Tomorrow, we're all excited because we're going to get a chance to do some animation. Michael D is going to show us some of his stuff which will be fabulous!

Yipee!

Day 2 of Week 2!

Today was awesome! Wendy and Jan came down and taught us about sign language and told us about a project that they've been working on. They developed software that can create websites in American Sign Language, rather than the English language. They also taught us a few signs which was fun.

After that great presentation we had the opportunity to update our blogs and keep working on our websites. Things are going great! Soon our websites will be available for an unveiling!

Day Six: Pick up sticks?

Well today we actually get a continuation about our lesson on JavaScript in a webpage. I was amazed with the things that Michelle was doing, with just a few lines of code in a webpage, really neat stuff. Today will be a few further examples and we will learn enough to try out building some of our own scripts. Just pay attention and try to have some fun.

Day Five: The forgotten Dive

Okay, Day five was pretty busy, and I think a lot of the campers got productive work done, and quite a few people took several strides towards having their personal websites looking very nice, and some campers started adding links. All in all it was a busy, but productive day.

Day Four: Definitely Not a Bore!

Today we learned more Dreamweaver and started working on our websites. Paul is working on a great site about Croatia and Krystal's website is about her experience at the ATRC camp! Michael M. and some of the other campers are still thinking about what their site is going to be about; we can't wait to see what they have instore for us!

The highlight of the day was definitely the presentation by Michelle from Ability Online who showed us their great website and all the different resources and stuff they have! I know I'll be opening my own account soon so that I can start chatting away on all their interesting forums. The campers also had some awesome tips and tipettes on how they could further improve on their site.

All in all, Day Four was even better than Day One, Two, or Three! Hard to believe, but camp just keeps getting better!

Wondering what's up for tomorrow? Well, we're going to learn a bit more about Dreamweaver and XTML, and we're also going to get a great presentation from Dave and Michelle, two more fantastic upstairs computer geniuses.

See you all then!

Day Three!

The third day of camp is here and we've already learned so much!

Yesterday's introduction to Alt-Text was great and making websites more accessible isn't as hard as I thought! We learned what kind of stuff we should include so that people who might not be able to see our sites can still access the information. We also had a great chat with Wendy about advocacy and what we can do when we have a problem or need help with something.

Today is going to be super exciting too! But, it's a surprise... You'll have to show up to see what we've got in store for you! Well, here's a hint .... you're going to get your first taste at Dreamweaver and XTML and then you'll also start brainstorming ideas for your sites.

See you all soon!

Day Two: Here We Come!

So, Day 1 went off without a hitch and the start of Day 2 is just around the corner. I bet you couldn't sleep last night for the wonder and excitement of what this Tuesday, Day 2 of ATRC's Fantastic Summer Camp Website Creation Extravaganza, will have instore. Well, let me tell you...

You're going to get an introduction to Dreamweaver and XTML by our friendly, neighbourhood, upstairs computer guy, Chris. Wendy will also be back to give a little talk and as always, you can look forward to seeing Andy, Nancy and Becca.

Hope you're having fun with the blogs and thinking of great ideas for your websites. Don't forget to check out your fellow campers' blogs and reply to a post every once in a while too.

See you all in T-minus 3 Hours & 51 Minutes...
